The game is running slowly. How do I speed it up?

Are the reels lagging more than spinning? Are your cards seeming to get stuck in place and then suddenly catch up to the action? That's not the way it should be, and we've got some simple steps to help get your game back up to speed.

The instructions below are specific to our online games (DoubleDown Casino on Facebook and For help with our mobile versions, read our troubleshooting steps for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire.

  1. Restart your browser. Sometimes, just stopping a process and starting it from scratch is all you need to do. It's especially helpful if the browser session has been going on for a while, or if you have a lot of tabs open at the same time.
  2. Clear your browser cache. It's a common solution for problems on many websites. It almost always helps, and it never hurts, so give it a try! We've got instructions on how to clear the cache for most popular browsers.
  3. Restart your computer. It's common to let your computer run for days or weeks at a time without ever turning it off and back on. Don't underestimate the value of this very basic troubleshooting step!
  4. Try a different browser. There are many browsers to choose from, and they update on different schedules. If your favorite websites aren't running the way they normally do, try switching to another browser to see if there's a change. 
    Note: IE 9 & below are no longer supported browsers. Please be sure to update if possible or try Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
  5. Change the game's optimization settings. Click the three parallel lines icon above the game to open the options menu: Open the options menu through the three parallel lines icon at the top right.
    Then click the gear icon to access Settings. Under Optimized for: choose Speed

    Choose Optimized for Speed to improve your game's performance if it is lagging.

If you are still seeing slow or choppy graphics after taking these steps, please note the following possibilities which are out of our control:

  • A slow or inconsistent Internet connection
  • General computer issues, such as an overtaxed hard drive, insufficient memory, or damage caused by malware or viruses

When contacting our Customer Experience team to report slowness, lagging, or choppy graphics, please be sure to include the following details:

  • Which browser(s) have you tried?
  • Were you playing on Facebook or
  • Have you seen an error message, and if so, what did it say?
  • Which of the above troubleshooting steps have you already tried? Did you see any improvement after any particular step?
